Seagate External Hard Drive was not Readable on Mac Computer issues

I have been using Seagate External Hard Drive 2TB for a while without problems. I turned off my computer (MacBook Air High Sierra OS 10.13) and when I rebooted and plugged in my external hard drive, I received the error "the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer". I deleted and inserted the disk multiple times and received the same message. I also clicked on all the options, popped up, ignored and initialized at some point. And there is no problem when I checked the cable and port. I used the disk utility and did the first aid option but it failed. It seems that the data still exists because it appears to be fully used for 500GB capacity, but I'm not sure if this is correct. I am afraid to do the recovery option because I don't know if it will completely delete all the data. Please help. I have read the options for a few hours online. I can't lose my data. Thanks in advance for anyone who can help.

Software Solution to Fix Seagate External Hard Drive was not Readable Error

If the Disk Utility cannot repair the disk, the external drive may experience severe file system corruption. In this case, reformatting is a viable option. However, reformatting will erase all data stored on the external drive, so make sure you have made a backup. If you don't have a data backup, you can use professional Mac data recovery software to recover data from an external drive that cannot be read on your Mac.
